How Does Massage Brighton Help Your Body Detox?

Need to Detox? Massage Brighton Can Help

Not feeling your best and not sure why? Might be time to detox.
Couples Massage Brighton
Apart from a detox diet or drink special smoothies to detox you can easily start with a massage to kick-start your body’s own natural cleansing processes, which has slowed down potentially for a variety of reasons — lack of exercise, little fluids or fiber in the diet … If you haven’t been taking the best care of yourself, a detoxifying massage can help set things right again.

How will massage assist the body to detox, exactly?

The pressure and rhythmic strokes applied to muscles, tissues and organs during massage therapy help stimulate the circulatory system. It works sort of like a sponge: When pressure is applied to the tissue and fat, toxins are literally “squeezed” out from in between the muscle fibers and cells. They’re released into the circulatory system for easier elimination.

The key importance of the lymph system

Your lymphatic fluid system works in unison with your cardiovascular circulatory system to fget rid off toxins and carry immune cells throughout the body to help defend against infections. If your lymph fluid circulation gets sluggish, toxins can build up and immune cells may not get carried to the areas of the body where they’re required.

Unfortunately the lymph system doesn’t have a big central pump like the heart to keep things moving, so it has to rely on gravity, exercise, breathing … and massage. So if you haven’t been as good as you should about your exercise, diet and “me time” routine (it happens to the best of us!), that can affect how you feel, causing aches, pains and swelling (lymph edema). It can also cause deterioration in organs and glands like the thymus that are vital players in your immune system.

It’s easy to see why detoxification is so important to avoiding illness and chronic health conditions. So if you’re not feeling your best or haven’t been as good about your diet and exercise routine lately, try a massage to get back on track. Remember to drink a glass or two of pure water after massage to help the body flush out toxins more rapidly.

At Little Jasmine Therapies and Spa, we’ll work with you to create a plan for regular, ongoing massage therapy sessions that can keep you healthy while working with your schedule and lifestyle, your health concerns and your priorities. Call or come in today and let’s talk about how you can get more massage and well-being in your life.

Delay signs of ageing, with no nasty side effects!

Anti-Ageing Therapy in Brighton

Little Jasmine Therapies and Spa is very happy to announce its collaboration with  Yvonne Campbell an expert and long standing holistic professional.

Amongst the treatments that Yvonne will be offering is the amazing Anti-ageing laser therapy.

An effective way of delaying the signs of ageing, with no nasty side effects, injections or surgery.  There is no down time, and the costs are comparative to other anti-ageing treatments.
The use of cool laser is widely used in cosmetic and medical procedures.  There is no pain or discomfort during treatment.

The treatment combines cool laser therapy with hyaluronic acid.    Photon laser technology is absorbed by the body, which revitalises cells, increases blood supply and oxygen uptake, strengthening the skin tissue matrix leaving skin looking and feeling healthier.

The combination of cool laser therapy and the proven aesthetic benefits of hyaluronic acid, make it an effective anti-ageing treatment.

Hyaluronic acid is produced naturally in the body and is a defining feature of our connective, epithelial and neural tissue.  It contributes to the hydrodynamics of the skin.  It helps keep skin plump and smooth due to its ability to hold 1000 times it’s own weight in water.

Hyaluronic acid diminishes with age.  By the time you reach 40 production of hyaluronic acid is down to half of what a baby manufactures and by the age of 60 it’s down to only 10%.  This decrease
has an adverse impact on the skin, and so the skin starts to appear dry and wrinkles appear.

Hyaluronic acid is non-toxic and does not irritate the skin and as a result can be used on all skin types.  Previously it had to be injected into the skin but the combination of laser technology means it no longer needs to be an invasive treatment in order to gain the benefits.

You can see improvements after the first treatment, but you will generally need a course of 6-8 treatments, depending on the condition of your skin at the start.

For at least 2 days prior to treatment, you will be requested to drink 1 ½ to 2 litres of water a day, so your body is properly hydrated.

Treatment usually takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Cosmetic application
  • Wrinkle reduction
  • Skin vitalisation
  • Refining of pores
  • Wound healing
This treatment is not recommended for the following:
  • Photosensitive skin
  • If taking cytostatic drugs (these suppress some stages of cell division)
  • Immune suppressants containing arsenic and radiotherapy

Be healthy in Autumn by Little Jasmine Therapies in Brighton

As the warm ( and wet!) days of summer faint away in Brighton to give way to cool crisp autumn weather we have to make sure that we make simple lifestyle changes to give ourselves the opportunity to adjust to the change of season.

Ancient sages advise us on how to leave in harmony with seasonal changes based on the principles of YIN and YANG. The changes affect our bodies - particularly the respiratory system leading to an increase in colds and allergies.

Five simple lifestyle tips with assist your body to adjust gradually making sure that you keep healthy this fall and coming winter

Autumn massage in Brighton

1. Food choices - eat juicy fruits and healthy vitamin filed veggies :  Changes in the climate in autumn leads to dryness affecting the entire body, especially skin and lungs, resulting in dry skin, dry cough and constipation. Eating more moistening, juicy fruits like pears, pomegranates, persimmons and apples can reduce these effects. To assist boost the immune system, add some vitamin-packed seasonal vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots, yams and winter squash. If you do come down with a cold or allergies, try adding some pungent flavored foods to your diet such as green onions, fresh ginger or sweet onions.

2. Food preparation: warm it up. As the weather becomes cooler, prepare warm cooked foods and reduce the amount of cold raw foods in your diet. Try using cooking techniques like baking, braising, roasting and stewing to improve nutrient absorption in the cold weather months.

3. Exercise: be gentle. Avoid heavily aerobic exercise outdoors in the autumn months, as it reduces vital energy or qi, and weaken your system. Focus on gentle or moderate exercise like brisk walking, tai chi or yoga. Light exercise boosts your immune system by enhancing the activity of neutrophils (a common white blood cell), which are instrumental in protecting the body against viral and bacterial infections. Traditional Thai Massage or "lazy man's yoga" as some people call it, is another gentle option of keeping the body energized and in tune with the environment.

4. Early to bed and early to rise. According to ancient Chinese philosophy, sleeping habits should adjust with the changing length of days through the seasons. In fall, as the days become shorter, try going to sleep earlier to avoid the chilly nights and rise early to enjoy the crisp morning air.

5. Layer, layer, layer. A Chinese folk saying states that one ought to "muffle the body in spring and freeze the body in autumn." That is to say, people should avoid wearing heavy winter coats and adding thick quilts too early in the autumn season. Especially in the beginning of autumn, the body needs some time to cool down from the summer heat. Careful though adding too much clothing may prevent the body from adjusting to the cooling temperatures.

As the weather cools more, add gradually more clothing and blankets to your bedding to give your system time to adjust. Layering is so important in autumn, as evenings and mornings tend to be cooler than the warm afternoons. Carry a sweater and scarf  on when spending time outside in the wind or shade.

Finally try to be positive and enjoy your life!

Switching on creativity for the Brighton massage Industry - Part 2

As mentioned on our previous article massage practices in Brighton luck a certain creativity that would have in the long run enabled them to establish Brighton as one of the key places in South East for massage treatments.
Massage in Brighton

The most effective type of creativity in business is focused creativity in other words an insightful approach that is based on concrete evidence and data. Creativity will then act as a lever for differentiating ones’ business from the competition.

Differentiating  ones business/practice requires a fundamental understanding of the following elements,  becoming aware of these elements and how they interact with each other provides a solid base for devising a business strategy:
  • Operating environment – this can be defined as the environment a practice is operating in, in other words the city of Brighton in terms of the local economy, infrastructure and relevant government policies
  • Customers – understanding of customer segments and behavioral pattern
  • Competition –analyzing competition and their capabilities
  • Suppliers – every business has a key set of suppliers from the company that supplies massage oils to therapists that might work for the practice, these are all considered supplies that a practice requires in order to operate effectively.
  • Resources – this type of analysis concentrates on the type of resources ( tech capabilities, staff, processes, managerial now-how etc ) that a business might have at its disposal.
There are various tools that can assist even the untrained to structure this type of research such as a Porter’s 5 Forces model and SWAT analysis. Obtaining the data to plug in into these tools might be harder to obtain but its well worth the effort as it can lead to insights that will ensure your business reaches the Holy Grail that every business out there is seeking consciously or unconsciously and that is a sustainable competitive advantage ( SCA) against ones’ competition.

Spa in Brighton

To phrase it slightly differently, a SCA is what you can do as a business that nobody else ( at a particular cost and quality) in your market can emulate. This type of advantage is what giants are build on like Microsoft, Apple, Coca Cola American Express and other great brands.

Once a good understanding of the above elements has been obtained then it’s time to mix it up. Use a SWOT analysis to  categorize your findings. The SWOT analysis will provide the strengths of the business that you need to invest further, the weaknesses that you need to handle in order to avoid  risks, the opportunities that you need to take advantage of and the threats that you need to remediate immediately.

A very good example of the above is a business that identifies the qualifications of its therapists are superior to its competitors so it pays extra attention in making customers aware of it as that is considered a strength/advantage, on the other hand a weakness can be the lack of a web presence which  requires attention as its a certain weakness when taking into account consumer behavior and trends. An opportunity can be in the form of training and expanding the repertoire of treatments offered and a threat can be the lack of insurance for the treatments offered.

Massage in Brighton – Dare to be different – the big “WHY”

On our previous massage in Brighton article we ve touched upon what power of understanding the “WHY” someone would get involved in the massage treatments business and the need to differentiate.

On this second installment we will talk about the strategies to employ to bring about these changes
Start now by getting a pen and a piece of paper. Start by completing a list of your professional, personal and financial "whys."
A professional "why" might be you want to educate 100 people on the benefits of massage within over the next few months. A personal "why" could be that you would like to make a difference in someone's life. A financial "why" could be that you would like to be able to offer free massages once a month to a woman's shelter. Or, your financial "why" might even be something to the effect of you want to stop working your other part-time job and do massage full-time. They can be as straightforward or complex as you want them to be. Take 10min and complete this exercise now.
This is a very helpful exercise to repeat on a frequent basis as your business becomes bigger as your "whys" will evolve or in some cases get much different than when you first started. You can expand on the exercise by even having all of your team members within your organization complete.
As you are going through this passage think of three other therapists you might know, perhaps ones you have trained with back at school or attended a class with or just met along your professional journey. Now, which one of you will not be practicing massage a year from now? That is a very sobering thought, but not to worry, if you are reading this and want to make some simple changes you are on the right path.

The core purpose of sharing these ideas is to provide some simple steps to create, not only the massage practice you really want, but also the life you truly longing for. A successful massage practice just happens to be in the picture.
Since you have a nice list of reasons on why you do what you do, let's try to take a step further. Being a massage therapist and simply massaging people is one thing, but being a massage therapist and your deepest desire for improving other people's lives fuels a cause and a bigger mission is completely different.
On the third and last installment we connect the “Why” outcome with actual benefits to your customers and how will this bring success to a personal and professional level.

Massage in Brighton: Dare to Be different

Owning a thriving massage practice in Brighton with a developed base of recurring clients, or just starting to get clients? This next few lines will try to summarize known secrets that will enable you to get more joy from your work, get more clients, ultimately make more money doing what you love, and show how online marketing allows you some of the best ways to achieve those goals.

Every successful marketing campaign should always lead with your WHY. "Why are you doing what you are doing?" It sounds simple, right? But if you want to be an accomplished massage practitioner, you must identify a way to separate yourself from your competitors. There are about 50,000 registered massage therapists in the U.K. alone ... and guess what they all have in common?
They massage!!
So, if you need to stand out from the crowd and have customers wanting to be treated by you rather than any of the other countless massage therapists out there, do not just tell people what you do, tell people why you do it. This is the angle that will if managed appropriately will lead to a competitive advantage, an edge over other practitioners..

It’s true that the world of business is undergoing a completely revolutionary shift. The rules and practices are changing and a rapid rate. Operations that focus exclusively on the bottom line will go away and soon be forgotten. It would be safe to assume that most of you reading this article  you were first drawn to massage because you had a passion to heal others, right? And if you are just starting out, you have invested countless hours in your training and education. And if you have been in business for a few years, lets add a few more hours of continuing education to fuel the inspiration that keeps you focused on why you continue to do what you do. But it goes beyond that. You need to fully and comprehensively understand the "Why" as for most people in the profession, it isn't about the money.
Consider this, if the massage profession is so inspiring, why is it estimated that 7,000 out of the total 50.000 leave the profession each year? To put it in other words, that means more than one out of every six massage practitioners will leave the profession this year, and this is not because they don't enjoy it, but simply because they do not know how to translate their "why" they do what they do into how it helps their customers and potential customers lead better, healthier and more energised lives.
On our next instalment we will be advising on how to make this all important change in mentality and turn your Brighton massage therapy practice  around.

Advice - How to give a great Foot Massage in Brighton

Women ( and men) love a foot massage in Brighton, it is well known that feet are one of the key primary places on the human body that can become sore, mainly from extensive and prolonged walking.

While a little effort will ensure that a foot massage is at the very least mediocre, some knowledge will make it stellar. Also, if you are trained adequately or have experience at giving foot massages yourself, you don’t need to refer anyone to professional massage therapist.

Another great characteristic of foot massage is its ability to heal the body over and above just the foot. There a lot of professionals that believe that a properly executed foot massage yields a full-body relaxation, but this belief is based on reflexology and has little proven efficacy.

Massage Therapy in Brighton

Before commencing the massage, it is important to have the feet be wet, whether with water or some other soaking preparation. After they are soft, you can use many different techniques to induce pleasurable feelings.

One of the techniques utilized involves holding the back of one’s foot and rotating your hand around it continuously, while periodically reversing direction. The rotations and reversals enable long-lasting stimulation, and it is not too difficult on the person delivering the treatment.

Another great and straightforward maneuver is the repeatedly stroking of the foot with both palms. You will need to apply a continuously good amount of pressure as you slide each palm down the length of the foot, and just keep placing one hand in front of the other as you move, as if climbing a rope. You can apply variable pressure to further spice up the technique, although a medium level pressure is fine if you want to keep stable.

There is also plenty of things to do with just a few fingers instead of your whole hand. For instance, you can use your forefinger or thump to move up and down the foot with this linear motion being very relaxing. You can also do elaborate patterns that make the massage more interesting and indulgent.

Adequate attention should also be paid to the toes. A lot of people love having their toes pulled and cracked, but that comes down to personal preference. Rubbing the toes lightly is a great supplement to a foot massage, and is also much easier than focusing on a larger area

To spice things up you can go for a slightly more exotic option such as the Thai foot massage from Little Jasmine Therapies in the Brighton city centre.

Massage in Brighton : Focus on the Thai Massage practice

Engaging in strenuous activities such as running, cycling or lifting , or you simply want to take a break and relax a Thai massage in Brighton will give you the healing you’re looking for, both physically and mentally!

Research has repeatedly shown the people who get a Thai massage before an exam or other potentially stressful situation showed a significant decrease in anxiety and respiratory rates, as well as a significant increase in white blood cells and natural killer cell activity, suggesting a benefit to the immune system.

The Techniques vary – but whichever one you go for, try not to fight the masseuse – stay loose so she can work properly. Thai massage is not for everyone, but most people walk out far less tense than when they went in.

What is the difference between a European or Swedish massage and a Thai massage?
Unlike European or Swedish style, traditional Thai massage focuses on circulation and pressure points, promoting internal health as well as muscular flexibility throughout. The traditional procedure is centuries old. Using hands, elbows, knees and feet, the therapist applies pressure to numerous points along the body’s meridians, or ‘life-power lines’, and manipulates the customer’s body and limbs. The aim is to encourage an even and harmonious flow of physical energy.

"Often people are stressed in our culture. Stress-related disorders make up between 80%-and-90% of the ailments that bring people to family practice physicians. What they require is someone to listen, someone to touch them, someone to care. Unfortunately, that does not exist in modern medicine.

One of the complaints heard frequently is that doctors don't touch their patients any more. Touch just isn't there. Years ago massage was a big part of nursing. There was so much care, so much touch, so much goodness conveyed through massage. Now nurses for the most part are as busy as physicians. They're writing charts, dealing with insurance notes, they're doing procedures and often there is no room for massage any more.

We believe that massage therapy is absolutely vital in the healing process and not only in the hospital environment, because it relieves stress, it is obviously foundational in the healing process anytime and anywhere."

You can clearly see that Thai massage or Thai yoga massage in Brighton is not only popular but actually helps to make you healthier! People who have experienced a Thai massage report that they have an increased sense of daily well-being, better posture and more energy than ever before.

If you haven’t tried a Thai massage in Brighton there’s no time like the present to get started on a healthier, happier life!
